SSC Stenographer Notification 2020: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will release the notification for Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Post after the lock down. The minimum qualification for SSC Stenographer is 12th Pass.
This year the Exam was scheduled to be conducted on 05th to 07th May, 2020 which was postponed due to COVID-19 Outbreak. The new date for the SSC Stenographer Exam 2019-20 is released on 1st June.
Latest Update: The SSC Steno 2019-20 Exam will be conducted from September 10 to 12 2020.
SSC Stenographer 2020 Exam: Check New Exam Date
In view of the Coronavirus Outbreak and to ensure the safety of the people, SSC has called off the Stenographer Exam 2019 which was scheduled from 5th to 7th May 2020. SSC has released the new dates of SSC Stenographer Exam after the meeting.
The revised Exam date for SSC Stenographer has been released. The new exam date for SSC Stenographer is 10th September to 12th September 2020.

As per SSC Stenographer Notification 2020, the following eligibility criteria needs to be fulfilled:
- Education Qualification: A candidate is required to be at least 12th pass from a recognized Board or University. He/She must be able to produce the required documents when asked for verification after qualifying SSC Stenographer 2019-20 Exam.
- Age Limit :
A candidate must lie in the age domain of 18-30 years to be eligible for SSC Stenographer Grade C 2019-20 exam.

Shorthand Skill Test
SSC Stenographer Skill Test Syllabus is given below. The SSC Stenographer Skill Test is done on both Computer and Paper. The candidates will be dictated a passage of 800 and 1000 wpm for Group D and C respectively, depending upon the marks obtained by the candidate.
- For Stenographer Group ‘D’: 800 words @80 words per minute (w.p.m).
- For Stenographer Group ‘C’: 1000 words @100 words per minute (w.p.m).
The shorthand passage will then have to be transcribed on a computer in 50 minutes for Grade D and 40 minutes for Grade C.
Qualifying Criteria For SSC Stenographer
The candidates will first have to secure a cut-off set by the SSC to qualify for the shorthand stage.
- The qualifying marks are different for the written test of Stenographer Grade C and Grade D.
- The candidates qualifying the written test will be eligible to appear for the shorthand skill test.
- The shorthand skill test is qualifying in nature.
- The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates in the written test.

Marking Scheme For SSC Stenographer Exam
- The time duration for SSC Stenographer Exam is 2 hours.
- The total no. of questions will be 200 of 200 marks.
- 1 mark will be given for every correct answer.
- 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response by the candidate.
- No marks will be awarded/deducted for unattempted questions.
- There will be negative marking in the shorthand skill test for use of every incorrect word.
